The White House isn’t just dipping its toes in the quantum water… it’s diving in headfirst with two coordinated orders.
The first, Executive Order 14411… the “build” order.
It directs the Department of Energy to get to work on a large-scale quantum computer and make it available for researchers… it even tells the Pentagon to start deploying quantum sensors on the battlefield by 2028.
This is a clear signal that the U.S. intends to win the race to build this revolutionary technology.
But the second order, EO 14409… this is the one that reveals the real fear.
It’s the “defend” order… and its purpose is to protect the government from the very thing the first order seeks to create.
“Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” Nightmare
So, why all the panic?
Because of something that I’ve talked about on a previous HODL The Line livestream; “harvest now, decrypt later.”
This is a government nightmare… this terrifying scenario has intelligence agencies across the globe scrambling.
Think about it… your enemies, whether nation-states or sophisticated hackers… aren’t just trying to steal your data today…
They are vacuuming up encrypted data… government secrets… corporate plans… your personal information… by the petabyte.

Ultimately, you can’t stop the technology from being built… so you have to change the locks.
This is the world of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).
These are new encryption algorithms designed to be secure against attacks from both classical and quantum computers.
The “defend” executive order mandates that all federal agencies must migrate their key systems to PQC by 2030.
The crypto industry is already moving in this direction…
Ethereum is actively planning its transition…and even the Bitcoin community… known for moving slowly and carefully… is now seriously considering solutions like a quantum-resistant soft fork to address this existential threat.
